Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers hauled in more than $10 million during the previous fundraising quarter as he seeks re-election in the November midterm elections.
Evers, who is looking to secure his second term, has taken in more than $20 million since 2021 and has more than $7 million cash on hand.
“From his time as a public school science teacher to now as governor, Tony Evers has worked to bring people together and do the right thing for Wisconsin,” said Tony for Wisconsin Campaign Manager Cassi Fenili. “Whether it’s helping small businesses, protecting access to abortion, fixing thousands of miles of roads and bridges, or investing in our public schools, Governor Evers is leading with respect, compassion, and fairness. Wisconsinites want common-sense solutions to the issues facing our state, and our record-breaking fundraising report shows the overwhelming grassroots support Governor Evers has earned.”
The governor’s campaign also detailed that the average donation was nearly $27 and came from “over 32,000 donors in all 72 counties since January.”
On the other side of the political aisle, Republican gubernatorial candidates are locked in a bruising primary battle with the goal to take on the incumbent. GOP front runners Tim Michels and Rebecca Kleefisch have not disclosed their level of fundraising for the quarter.
However, the gubernatorial campaign is expected to become one of the most expensive in the state’s history.
While Evers will likely hold a fundraising edge over his Republican challenger, he will have to overcome President Joe Biden’s low approval numbers.
According to a poll from Marquette Law school, only 40 percent of voters approve of Biden’s job performance. At the same time, 56 percent of respondents said the state is on the wrong track, and 95 percent expressed concern about inflation.
